Just about anyone who has put a bike on a roof rack has at some point had a close call, or worse yet, a collision with a low-hanging hazard. When I was a kid, my dad and I would put a note card with the message "Bikes On Roof!"™ on the dashboard when we packed up the bikes for a weekend adventure.

This solution was somewhat effective, but the card would get wet, dirty or sun-worn, or fall off the dashboard. Since then, I've had a few close calls myself, and witnessed a few incidents where the bike, rack, and car roof sustained extensive damage. I thought there had to be a more effective way to remind the driver of equipment on the roof. So I made a sign by hand, had it laminated, and put it to use. It has made an incredible difference.

With the encouragement of my partner, I decided to offer a product that would help others avoid costly damage to their equipment. And that’s how Bikes On Roof™ & Gear On Roof™ were born.
